CEonline, and our marketing partners (“we”)
are committed to maintaining the accuracy, security, and privacy of personal
information in keeping with the Personal Information Protection and
Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”). We recognize the importance of
privacy and the sensitivity of personal information. We have a professional
obligation to keep confidential all information we receive within our
relationship. This privacy policy outlines how we manage and protect the
personal information of our clients.
Your Privacy Rights
Commencing January 1, 2004, all businesses
engaged in commercial activities, including CEonline, must comply with PIPEDA.
This act formalizes your rights concerning the privacy of your personal
information.
What Personal Information do we collect?
Personal information is any information
that identifies you, or by which your identity could be deduced. If we did not
collect and use your personal information, then we could not provide you with a
CEonline account.
Generally speaking, personal information
does not include what is considered to be business contact information: your
name, title or position, business address, telephone number, fax number and
email address. The types of personal information that we collect include: email
address and information that will permit the transfer of your payment for
courses that you select to Moneris who processes and retains all information
related to all credit card payments.
How do we collect Personal Information?
We collect information only by lawful and
fair means. Personal information is collected directly from you in the log in
process. For the purpose of dealing with your personal information we will
protect it according to the terms of this policy and PIPEDA.
Credit Card Information
Credit card information is collected on a
page linked to Moneris, not to CEonline. We do not see, copy, maintain or ever
have access to your credit card payment information.
Why do we collect your personal
information?
We collect and use your name, email address
and credit card information to identify your account, to prepare a CE
Certificate in your name, to advise you of new presentations and to pay for the
presentations you select.
Consent
Your consent is implied through your
dealings with us.
Use of your information
We use your personal information to provide
educational presentations to you and anyone to whom you have provided your
login information, to administer our client database and to include you in any
direct marketing activities.
CEonline does not disclose your personal
information to any third party to enable them to market their products and
services.
Disclosure of your personal information
Under certain
circumstances, CEonline will disclose your personal information:
- when we are required or authorized by law to do so, for example if a court issues a subpoena;
- when you have requested the disclosure;
Where do we store your personal information?
We store you
personal information in secured locations and on servers controlled by CEonline,
either located at our offices or at the secure offices of our service
providers. To help maintain the security of your personal information we use
administrative and technological safeguards. We have also educated our staff
to ensure that your information is stored safely and securely.
How can you
obtain access to your personal information?
Subject to exceptions in PIPEDA, you need only ask
for access. We prefer, and suggest, that such a request be in writing. Once
your request is received, and within 30 days of receipt of the request, CEonline
will inform you of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal
information and will give you access to a copy of this information. Please

What do I do if I find an error in my personal information?
CEonline works with our clients to collect, use and (where necessary)
disclose accurate information. With respect to any errors in our records, we
work with our clients to maintain accurate information and correct inaccurate
information. Please bring all changes in your personal information and/or
errors in our records to our attention and we will make all reasonable efforts
to adjust the records accordingly. If during the course of our work with you
any of your information changes, then please inform us so that we can make any
necessary changes to our records.
Can I be Denied Access to My Personal Information?
Your rights to access your
personal information are not absolute.
We may deny access when:
- denial of access is required or authorized by law;
- when granting you access would have an unreasonable impact on other people's privacy;
- when to do so would prejudice negotiations with you;
- to protect our firm's rights and property; where the request is frivolous or vexatious.
If we deny your request for access to, or refuse a request to correct information, we shall explain why.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Since CEonline regularly reviews all of its policies and procedures, we may
change our privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will posted to our
website and will be available from our Privacy Officer upon request.

Credit bureaus
To help make credit decisions about clients, prevent fraud,
check identity of new clients and prevent illegal activities, we may request
information about you from the files of consumer reporting agencies.
Communicating with Us
You should be aware that e-mail is not a 100% secure medium,
and you should be aware of this when contacting us to send personal or
confidential information. On the other hand, traditional forms of
communications including phones, mail, fax and couriers are also not 100%
secure. Please advise us if you have a preference for the security provided by
certain mode(s) of communication.
